Línea/Campo de Investigación (Español/ Inglés): Preparation and characterization of glasses and glass-ceramics for photonic applications using melting and sol-gel methods.

Breve resumen del CV (Español/ Inglés): Giulio Gorni holds a Master’s Degree in Physics from the University of Florence (Italy) and he has made the PhD thesis in the Ceramics and Glass Institute (defense April 2019). In May 2019, he will start a post-doc at the BL-22 CLÆSS beamline of the ALBA synchrotron to do X-ray absorption (XAS) and emission spectroscopy (XES).

He collaborated in one international and two national projects, and in COST Actions. In 2016 he received funding from the COST Action MP1401 for a Short Term Scientific Mission (7th November-9th December) in the Laboratory of Optical Fibre Technology of the Bialystok University of Technology (Poland).

He is co-author of 11 scientific papers published in journals of Science Citation Index (H-index 4, Scopus), 1 book chapter and 18 oral contributions in international congresses (9 invited).

In 2016, he was selected by the SECV as Spanish representative in the Student Speech Contest of the ECerS 2017. In 2017, Giulio was also awarded by Şişecam for “an outstanding poster”, concerning the preparation and characterisation of glass-ceramic optical fibres, presented in the 2017 ICG Annual Meeting and 32nd Şişecam Glass Symposium (Istanbul 22-25th October 2017).
